Spoke to my gynae, Kenneth and Dr Ng of Mt Alvernia Hospital whom i usually see for colds about my recent health tests yesterday. Both of them shared the same view as the doctor at Balmoral clinic but surprisingly, both of them said the similar things of the same effect at different times. In fact, the usually quiet Kenneth told me:
"Joanne, i know it may be tough for u initially but no matter what, u must not give up. You have been through endometrisis cancer scare as well as thyroid disorders but you have braved through these two difficult periods of time with cheerfulness and positive attitude. You have been a strong gal and please continue to be strong. Diabetes is not the end of the world."
I was touched by his words. True enough, the first two days were horrible for me. No mood to do anything and totally depressed. Often asking, "God ah, why do i seem to always get the most terrific combination? At work, all the most troublesome parents are gathered in my class. I have been through thyroid disorders and cancer scare, now this?"
However, through quiet moments praying and reading the scriptures, i understand totally. If there is no trial and sorrows, we will never be a polished gem. A diamond becomes a diamond after ages of scraping and polishing. Through difficult times, we learn to be brave and we learn to trust. We learn to be more loving and to be more forgiving. We learn to be empathetic.
Counting my blessings among the thorns in a pot of roses..
